SC EP:1258 The Fireside Encounter

Ryan writes “I’m sending this email because I spoke with my daughter many times about her experience in WV on our 30acre property next to my sisters 30acre property, so between us 60acres. Emmy decided she wanted to tell you what she experienced outside of telling me her dad.

Emmy is 13 yrs old now and when she had her experience she was 7 maybe 8 years old with my memory. When she was little, maybe 5, I taught her how to build a fire in the fire pit(stones stacked in a circle) next to our house close to the wood line next to the hay fields. The night she had her experience she started a fire with me and we were hanging out. She had built a fort with blankets and with some camp chairs and we were watching the fire. I told her I had to run inside and use the bathroom and get a snack/drink keep an eye on the fire, I’ll be right back. After going inside and using the bathroom, grabbing a bag of potato chips and drink, I was at the back porch door and Emmy was there trying to open the door and crying upset. I opened the door and she was crying very scared and I asked what happened.

She told me there was something very large and tall and dark in the wood line watching her next to big pine tree while she was watching the fire. She told me she looked multiple times thinking it was her imagination but she thought it would go away but it didn’t and then she realized it was real and she got really scared, when she got the back steps maybe 100ft from the fire the tears and uncontrollable crying hit her. That’s when I met her at the back door almost immediately as I was headed back outside.

I asked her to show me where she saw the figure and the leaves on the ground next to the big pine where flat. Not like the other leaves like something had laid down on them or stood on them if it was really big. Not the same as the other leaves in the woods around that particular point. No footprints, just flat leaves. I looked up and there was a broken pine branch about 8ft. I’m 6’3” and my arm outstretched above my head couldn’t touch the broken limb. Anyway, we went to bed that night and Emmy calmed down and told me what she saw and I told her it’s ok I believe you.

She told me it was big and dark and red eyes, watching her but the eyes were red or orange like the fire burning, but she said she saw what she said was hair off the arm holding the big pine tree. She told me it was just standing there watching her. The next day, daytime I asked her to show me where she saw the figure and it was the same spot as the night before when we went to look. The same the leaves were flat in the woods like something heavy was there and the same branch I saw the night before was bent or broken. Afterwards we did some gifting in the woods with marbles and had them replaced with rocks on the mosssy log. We had some feathers replaced with different feathers. Recently we had a 6 point deer skull blanched white with time and no meat or hair on it about 8ft up in an oak tree next to my woodpile for firewood. We recently had a deer leg same blanched white no meat or hair on it on the edge of the hay field up from the creek in a tree about 7ft off the ground. My daughter Emmy told me she wanted me to email you and tell you what she experienced.”

Tayler writes “My husband and I are originally from Arkansas. He was recently stationed back here for my his final duty assignment before retirement. We are big outdoors people hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, kayaking you name it. Over the years, we’ve had a few strange encounters, and even my grandmother, who lives in a rural part of Arkansas, has had her own experiences.

Last weekend, we went to float the Buffalo River and do some primitive camping. Not long after getting on the river, I was taking in the scenery and admiring the massive bluffs when I noticed a cave. As I focused on it, I caught movement off to the right along the bluff. At first, I assumed it was hikers, which isn’t unusual in that area. I pointed it out to my husband and said it looked like an adult and a younger teen.

Then I realized something was off they appeared entirely brown in color. As I tried to get my husband to look, they suddenly disappeared into the cave. That’s when it hit me there aren’t any trails in that specific area that I’m aware of, and we know those trails pretty well. They were gone before he could see them. I was disappointed he missed it, both to confirm what I saw and to share the experience.

As the day went on, I tried to rationalize it and mostly brushed it off. We continued floating for several hours, had a great time, and eventually made it to our campsite. We built a fire, cooked dinner, had a couple of drinks—just enjoying a rare kid-free adventure.

That night, I woke up suddenly with my body shaking uncontrollably. My husband noticed and thought I was just cold and held me closer it was in the 40s, after all. But I told him I felt sick. He eventually went back to sleep, and that’s when I noticed a bluish-white ball of light hovering outside our tent.

At first, I thought it might be the moon, but it didn’t make sense the light was coming from the wrong direction, and it was moving slightly. As I focused on it, I became violently ill. I was getting sick about every 30 minutes for hours. It was intense to the point where I genuinely felt like I was dying.

At some point, I realized the light was gone. Not long after that, the sickness stopped. I remember just begging for it to be over so I could get some sleep.

I hadn’t planned on reaching out, but today, while cleaning my house, I put on your newest episode the one where Rick talked about a woman who became sick after seeing a similar ball of light, possibly related to radiation exposure. The timing and similarities felt hard to ignore.

What’s also strange is that my husband and I had the same food and drinks that day, and neither of us drank much. He never got sick, and I was the only one who saw the light.”

The sickness that comes after seeing a light or a Sasquatch is a very real thing! Mine was instant when I seen the Sasquatch that’s why I assumed they put off something like infrasound! Maybe we will never know but each experience brings us closer to understanding a little more!

hey guys, Thx Wes. Quick question does anyone know if Claire from episode 515 is ok? Earlier today on a SC FB post someone said she passed away…I don’t believe it but am I wrong? Did I miss something??? Does anyone know??? Wes?? Claire speak up if you pop in tonight to say hi. I pray they are wrong. Thx guys.

Maria, I pray that Claire is all right. Looking back through the episodes, it looks like she hasn’t commented since Wes’s final post of 2025, his “Happy Holidays” message . I truly hope that she is OK, and will join in with us again in the near future.

I would be EXTREMELY cautious with a young daughter around these beings. First Nations have some horror stories. My gut tells me it’s bad news when they show themselves to younger females

Here’s a little something that perhaps relates to the sickness. My college roommate works in the forestry industry as a specialized professional. There are very few people in his field and most of them know each other. He works in BC and upper Alberta in some of the most isolated lands in North America, sometimes alone. He and all of his fellow professionals have all experienced what they call “the phenomena”. Odd happenings, lights, strange sounds, voices, Sasquatch, all in the same areas. They ALL started carrying EMF field detectors as well as Geiger counters. He is convinced by paying attention to these meters he can avoid “the phenomena” a majority of the time. He has had multiple trainees quit after a few nights dealing with this stuff deep in the Canadian backcountry. There are blocks of forest apparently no one will step foot in, not even the loggers

Radiation?? not sure but high stress, fright, and adrenilin can cause the same. Ittakes a LOT to generate radiation or even EMF Be honest was there any techonology near buy beyong power lines?? Simpler answers are usally the best path to the solution…

@Micheal O …if you don’t have anything nice to say to a guest especially a child keep your damn opinions to yourself. That comment was rude and it pissed me off.

Thanks, Wes and guests! I like hearing the encounters from both West Virginia and Arkansas. They have similar terrain (western and northern Arkansas particularly), and similar squatchiness.

Thanks Wes and thanks for the guest for sharing! There’s 2 places I love to hear on the show. Ohio and WV. I live in Ohio but my family is from Spencer. It should still be there but there is a picture of my grandpa in his army uniform in the local bar. If the guest read this my uncle actually owns a few mountains in Jackson Co WV. They have had a lot of experiences out that way. Which doesn’t surprise me. It’s about 20 mins from point pleasant where the mothman incident happened.

There is quantifiable data just from the last 20 years on the number of people who get cancer or strange illnesses when investigating or being exposed by chance to Bigfoot, Werewolf-Dogman and Alien phenomena. There is “there” there and maybe someone should investigate what has/is happening. Geiger counters, EmF detectors and maybe hazmat suits like the “unnamed Govt agencies” maybe used… for a reason. Stay Safe SC Family!

The first story should tell us not to go making altars towards the unknown or gift something that you truly don’t understand what it is and then walk away, because you unknowingly have started a pattern of ritual. We can only imagine the depths of evil as to what has been offered to these things in the past… So when the father walked away from Emmy it’s very possible the creature or entity responded to the stacked rocks and fire as being built for “it” and then looking at the child as the potential offering (True or not, think of the Afghanistan giant with bones strewn about outside of its cave). We can all thank God Emmy and her dad were still watched over by a higher power. Hopefully the warning wakes people up to how something that seems harmless at first can set in motion something dark when you aren’t focused on the Lord and Savior. Without that connection we’re blind and unprotected spiritually and solely relying on Gods mercy. I don’t want this to sound like fear mongering, but people should have a healthy amount of fear with these spiritual realities, and frankly I don’t know how else to say it.

Emmelyn’s experience and not the Father being shown is probably due to Emmy being young and a woman. They seem to be far more receptive to women, and the reason should be obvious as they are much less of a threat, and of course much more soothing voices. There was this elderly woman up around Minerva, OH that daily would tend to her flower gardens. She would hum spiritual songs while gardening. And this Bigfoot would show up and show itself from a distance where the woods were, often. She would not look directly at it, instead just a quick glance from time to time. Her husband comes home in his car and is drunk and getting quite verbal with her. That Bigfoot chucks a rock and hits him in the head, drawing blood and pain. Im not sure the conversation she had with her husband, but that was the day he quit drinking. And as far as her nephew knew, it never came back.
So they have 30 plus 30 acres with the sister, a creek that goes into the famous New River and apple trees and forest galore. Perfect senario for having a sometime habituation if they want to have one.

my cousin Lori and I were sick for like 5 days with nausea and weakness after going into an area in woods to investigate a reported highway crossing of a bigfoot..im thinking infrasound

Tayler, it’s “resonated” not “resignated.” Everyone be safe out there, especially Emmelyn!

The new song has an Art Bell vibe.

    Thanks Wes, as always.

it would be cool if for each episode the guests could draw a map of the area of the sighting so we can have a visual while they’re explaining what happened. Thar would be great. 👍

Cmon Germer play us some black lake or white star after the shows. Best after show songs ever and I’m sure everyone agrees.. my wife doesn’t think you read these so throw down a song tomorrow night to prove her wrong. Keep up the great shows buddy.
